ROHNERT PARK, Calif- A hot Sonoma State volleyball team ran into an even hotter Cal State L.A. squad on Saturday afternoon, resulting in a three-set loss for the Seawolves. The defeat drops the Seawolves to 18-5, 10-4 CCAA while the Golden Eagles improve to 18-3, 11-3 CCAA.
Cal State L.A. won by scores of 25-23, 25-18, and 25-17 to avenge a three-set defeat at the hands of Sonoma State in September.
The Seawolves' best chance at a win came in the first set, when they were tied at 23-23 late. CSULA's Lindsay Laakso came up with the final two kills of the set to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead. Laakso would continue her dominant play throughout the match as she finished with 17 kills and a .625 hitting percentage.
Kristy Sather and
Ali Walker led the Seawolves with eight and seven kills, respectively . The Golden Eagles had a commanding advantage on the attack, out hitting the Seawolves .339 to .126.
The Seawolves will have two more tough matchups next weekend when they face Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona.
