ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Sonoma State improved to a perfect 10-0 at home this season with a three-set sweep of Humboldt State in CCAA volleyball action on Wednesday night in Rohnert Park. The Seawolves improve to 15-3, 7-2 CCAA while the Lumberjacks fall to 6-10, 4-5 CCAA.
Set one was one of streaks as Sonoma opened on a 4-0 run only to see the 'Jacks answer with a seven-point spurt of their own. The Seawolves grabbed control of the set with their own 7-0 streak on their way to the 25-12 win. Sonoma outscored Humboldt 21-5 down the stretch.
The Seawolves went up 5-0 in the second set and never really looked back. Though Humboldt would battle in the middle, cutting the lead to two points at 17-15, the Seawolves had more than enough firepower, ending on an 8-1 run to get the win.
The third set was the best of the match, with the 'Jacks leading by as many as six at 11-5 and 15-9. The Seawolves proceeded to find their stride, reeling off a 9-1 run that gave them a lead they would not relinquish.
Sarah Illingworth and
Kristy Sather shared game-high honors with ten kills for the Seawolves.
Lindsay Brown had 34 assists on SSU's 40 kills for the game and Sather was a part of four blocks.
Lynsey Adams and Loliann Arzadon were tops for Humboldt State with seven kills each.
The Seawolves hit the road this weekend to face UC San Diego.
