ROHNERT PARK, Calif- The Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes came in to town on Friday night and showed why they are the third-ranked team in the nation, blanking Sonoma State three sets to none. The Coyotes won by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-21 to improve to 22-3, 14-3 CCAA and inch closer to another conference title. The Seawolves fall to 20-6, 12-5 CCAA.
It was the first home loss of the season for the Seawolves (12-1 at home). It was also just the third three-set loss of the season for Sonoma State, ranked sixth in the latest NCAA Pacific Region poll.
Sara Rice had 14 kills and a .545 hitting percentage to lead the Coyotes. Reigning conference player of the year Jessica Granados also had a nice night, finishing with ten kills. The Coyotes hit at a .242 clip as a team. Sara Hoffman had 37 assists and Meghan Haas had a game-high 20 digs.
Kristy Sather was about the only thing the Sonoma offense had going on Friday as the senior delivered 14 of the team's 32 kills. She hit .333 for the night to lead a .089 effort by the team.
Lindsay Brown had 27 assists and
Taylor Krenwinkel was tops with 16 digs.
The Seawolves will try to bounce back tomorrow night when they host another nationally-ranked team in Cal Poly Pomona.
