ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Freshman Will Olsem scored 17 of his career-high 22 points in the first half, giving Sonoma State a healthy 47-34 lead at halftime, but with the help of 31 points from Cal State Stanislaus' Chad Johnson, the Warriors pushed past the Seawolves to take the 82-74 victory on Thursday night at The Wolves' Den. Sonoma State dropped its sixth straight game, falling to 3-11 overall and 2-7 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play. Cal State Stanislaus moved to 7-5 and 3-4 in the CCAA.

The Seawolves built a considerable lead early in the game thanks to Olsem, who scored 12 of Sonoma State's first 18 points in the opening six minutes to go up 18-10. Two free-throws by sophomore Steven Pratt stretched the Seawolf lead to 16 at 32-16 with eight minutes to go in the opening frame. Johnson got the Warriors within 12 just two minutes later but Olsem dropped in his fifth three-ball of the night to give the Sonoma State its largest lead of the game (17) at 43-26 with 2:45 on the clock before halftime.

Sonoma State shot 50 percent from the floor (14-28) in the first 20 minutes of play, including 7-of-16 from three-point land. Both teams controlled the ball very well, only giving up the ball seven times between the Seawolves and Warriors, with SSU forcing five CSUS turnovers.

Cal State Stanislaus opened up the second half on a 21-10 run to pull within just two points (57-55) and Johnson gave the Warriors the lead for good with a jumper with 4:40 remaining in the game. The Warriors outscored the Seawolves by an outstanding margin in the final period (48-27), helping Cal State Stanislaus to their third win in their last four games.

Johnson's 31 points is the second-highest point total given up by the Seawolves defense in a game this season. He was perfect from the charity stripe (11-11) on top of 9-of-16 from the field. Frank Monge added 15 points and recorded a double-double with 13 rebounds for the Warriors. Sonoma State forced 10 Cal State Stanislaus turnovers while giving up the ball a season-low eight times.

Pratt scored 10 of his 18 points in the second half and handed out a career-high seven assists.

Sonoma State will look to shake their longest losing streak since the 2003-04 season on Saturday when the Seawolves host Chico State (9-3, 5-2 CCAA). Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. at The Wolves' Den.
