BOX SCORE: Cal State L.A. 3, #22 Sonoma State 1

LOS ANGELES, Calif-  The 22nd-ranked Sonoma State volleyball team tasted defeat for just the second time in conference play this year on Friday as the Cal State L.A. Golden Eagles emerged with a 3-1 victory over the Seawolves at the Eagles Nest in Los Angeles.  The Golden Eagles won by scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-22 to drop the Seawolves to 18-4, 15-2 CCAA on the season.  CSULA improves to 11-11, 8-9 CCAA.

The loss snaps the Seawolves' eight-match winning streak.  Sonoma State entered the match ranked 4th in the NCAA West Region poll.

The Seawolves got out to a good start on Friday evening, taking the first set 25-22.  Set two saw the teams battle back and forth until a 7-0 Golden Eagles run put the set in their column.

While the Seawolves led early in set three, it would be the Golden Eagles pulling past Sonoma midway through and then holding on for another six-point win.  Set four mirrored the previous set as the Seawolves would go up early.  However, a 10-3 Cal State L.A. put the set, and ultimately the match, away.

Keala Peterson and Kelsey Hull each had 17 kills to lead the Seawolves on the night. Ally Sather had 15 kills, Hayley Ross posted 47 assists, and Taylor Krenwinkel led all players with 17 digs.

Natalia Gonzalez led the Golden Eagles with 14 kills.

The Seawolves will look to return to their winning ways on Saturday night when they head to Carson to take on Cal State Dominguez Hills.
