HONOLULU, HI –The Sonoma State women's water polo team dropped its first two games of the 2019 season, 11-6 to No. 21 San Diego State and 16-2 to No. 5 Hawaii.Â

Four Seawolves found the back of the net in the team's season debut,
Jordan Williams led the team with a hat trick and
Brooke Sullivan contributed seven steals against the No. 21 team in the nation.

After the Aztecs opened the game with four goals, the Seawolves cut the score in half with a power play late in the first by
Annika Erickson and a goal by Williams.Â

San Diego State extended its lead by three before the half came to an end, with the clock winding down Williams found the back of the net for the second time making the score 7-3 at the half.

The Aztecs opened the second half scoring twice in the opening minute. Seawolves quickly answered with a goal by
Amber Hellickson. Two more San Diego State goals in the third gave the Aztecs an 11-4 lead after 24 minutes of play.

The Seawolves held the Aztecs scoreless in the final quarter, while Williams added a goal with an assist from
Kelly Failner to make the final score 11-6.Â

Sonoma State fell to No. 5 University of Hawaii 16-2 in game two of the Rainbow Invitational.Â

Hailey Gellert got on the board for the Seawolves.
Â
The Rainbow Warriors, scored the first six goals before the Seawolves saw one of their own by Williams. Before the second quarter came to an end, the Rainbow Warriors added four goals to make the score 10-1 after two-quarters of play.Â

The second half saw the Rainbow Warriors add six goals to the Seawolves one by Gellert.
Â
Brooke Sullivan notched eight saves and five steals in the cage.
