Seawolves End its Opening Weekend

HONOLULU, HI –The Seawolves closed out its opening weekend playing its third top-25 opponent in Hawaii. With a 14-3 loss to No. 24 Marist College, Sonoma State starts the season off 0-3.
 
Holding its own against the Foxes, the Seawolves stayed within two points in the opening half, 4-2.
 
The Foxes opened the game scoring in the first two minutes, answered by Annika Erickson. Marist score once more at the buzzer to take a 2-1 lead into the second.
 
Continuing its scoring efforts, Marist found the back of the net twice in the second before Cameron Gavuzzi scored off a power play at 1:11. 4-2 after two periods of play. 
 
Six goals by the Foxes and a strong defense held the Seawolves scoreless in the third for a 10-2 deficit entering the final quarter.
 
The fourth brought a second goal for Gavuzzi, outdone by the Foxes four bringing the final score to 14-3.
 
Sonoma State returns to the pool February 16th against Santa Clara at home, scheduled for a 12 p.m. sprint.
