Fresno, CA -  The Sonoma State Women's Track and Field Team competed in their first meet of the year at the Sunbird Invitational in Fresno, California. Sonoma State had great appearances from Haley Chimenti (Discus/Hammer), Juliana Cerezo-Rangel (Shot Put/Hammer) and Haley Azevedo (Discus).

Hayley Chimenti threw 34.68 meters in discus and 37.44 meters in the hammer. Juliana Cerezo-Rangel threw 10.79 meters in the shot put competition and 31.85 meters in the hammer. Haley Azevedo threw 34.56 meters in discus. Chimenti, Azevedo, and Cerezo-Rangel all qualified for this year's CCAA track and field championship based on these scores.

The team will return to action on 2/29 when they compete in the Leap Day meet.
