VB: Emily Eaton Earns First-Team Honors and Highlights CCAA Selections for SSU

ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - On Wednesday November 17th, the CCAA All-Conference selections were released for women's volleyball on the eve of the conference tournament. Head coach Bear Grassl and the Seawolves volleyball program saw three members selected to one of the all-conference teams. Senior Emily Eaton led the way as she was named to the All-CCAA First Team while juniors Kiana Richardson and Jenn Trephan were named to the All-CCAA Second Team.

Outside hitter Emily Eaton had a career year for the Seawolves as she finished the 2021 regular season with a single-season career high of 276 kills, good for second on the team and 9th in the conference. Eaton also added 329 points to lead her team, 38 aces, and 103 digs. Eaton's versatility and athletic ability was on full display this season as she would also record a team high 3.10 kills/set, a mark good for top-10 in amongst all CCAA teams. Eaton was one of the Seawolves two powerhouse outside hitters as she helped lead her team to an 11-7 conference record, the program's best conference record since 2017.

Earlier this season, Eaton recorded a new single-game career high for kills as she finished with a game high 27 kills in the Seawolves 3-2 victory on the road over Cal State East Bay. Eaton's First Team selection would go down as her first all-conference selection of her Seawolf career. She will look to continue her historic season as the Seawolves will play in the first round of the CCAA Tournament tomorrow night in San Bernardino against Cal State LA.

Kiana Richardson was named to the All-CCAA Second Team, going down as her second all-conference selection of her SSU career. Richardson was named to the conference's

honorable mention list for her efforts during the 2019 season. This year, Richardson acted as the second head in what was known as the two-headed monster for the Seawolves alongside Emily Eaton. The two players would combine for a staggering 576 total kills on the year. Richardson would lead the team with 300 kills, a new single-season career high. That mark would also be good for 6th place in the CCAA. Richardson was always involved in the action as she tied the team lead for sets played on the year with 99.

Richardson's season high would come against Cal State San Bernardino who came into the Wolves' Den as the #3 ranked team in the nation. Grassl and the Seawolves would take the Coyotes to five sets with every chance to win the match. SSU would fall 16-14 in the fifth and final set but Richardson would have herself a night as she finished with 19 kills on the night, good for second most amongst all players and her season high. Richardson's unique and unparalleled leaping ability put her above the rest as one of the most dangerous outside hitters in the conference.

Finally for the Seawolves is junior setter Jenn Trephan. Trephan was named to the All-CCAA Second Team during the 2019 season so this year's selection would go down as back-to-back second team selections for her. Trephan played in 94 sets for the Seawolves tallying 243 digs, 57 blocks, and 200 total points, all figures good for top three on the team. One of Trephan's most impressive stat lines was her 50 aces on the season which leads her team and the entire conference! She would also pick up 612 assists to lead the Seawolves and finish inside the top-10 of all players in the CCAA.

Jenn Trephan's season high this year came against CCAA rival Chico State where she recorded a season high 36 assists as well as 5 blocks to lead SSU. Grassl and his squad would win the match in an intense five sets on the road to help better the Seawolves conference tournament chances. Trephan would also add 117 kills to her resume with her season high coming against Holy Names earlier in the season where finished with 10 kills in the match.
