TURLOCK, Calif. – The Sonoma State track team once again had a strong showing, placing 9
th out of 20 teams at the Kim Duyst Invitational. The Seawolves had several athletes qualify for the CCAA Championships with their performances, including
Haley Azevedo and
Emma Lopez in the hammer throw and
Roxanne Foltz in the triple jump.
Foltz shined in the triple jump, finishing 3
rd overall with a 11.13m jump which ranked 4
th all-time at Sonoma State. Her 3
rd place finish netted the Seawolves six points while she also ranked in the top-10 in the triple jump.
Azevedo led the way for SSU in the hammer throw, placing 22
nd with a long of 34.89m with Lopez placing four spots back at 32.55m.
On the track side,
Sophie Rodriguez added four points to the Seawolves total with a 5
th place finish in the 5k with a time of 18:57.16.
Alex Boyle also placed 5
th in their event, finishing the 1500m with a time of 4:57.83 and was less than two seconds out of second place. The final two point scorers for the Seawolves were
Jeida Lavender and
Sydney Lopes. Lavender ran the 400m in the 1:02.94 and finished 7
th overall while Lopes earned a point with an 8
th place finish in the 400m hurdles.
