Mia Oggenfuss represented the Sonoma State track & field team at the Stanislaus State Multis at Warrior Stadium. With the CCAA Track & Field championships approaching in the first week of May, head coach
David Lawrence Jr. continues to get members of his program qualified as Lanza and Oggenfuss competed in the women's outdoor heptathlon hosted by Stanislaus State. 7 events would highlight the meet over the two day stretch.
Lanza and Oggenfuss would kick things off Thursday morning with the 100m hurdles and the high jump. In the hurdles, both SSU participants would come in 2nd place in their respective heats. Overall, senior transfer
Amber Lanza would come within tenths of a second of first place and finish alone in 3rd out of the 6 participants with a time of 16.94 seconds. Oggenfuss would finish in 5th place with a time of 17.86.
Oggenfuss and Lanza would flop positions in the high jump as Mia recorded a mark of 1.44 m (4'8.75'') good for 3rd place overall.
Amber Lanza would record a mark of 1.35 m (4'5'') to finish 5th overall. Both competitors would move on to the shot put as both Oggenfuss and Lanza would hit career marks. Lanza finished 4th overall with a throw of 27'2'' while Oggenfuss recorded a mark of 24'3.5'' good for 5th place right behind Lanza.
In the 200 meters, Lanza would come within a second of the first place spot and finish with a time of 28.37 seconds, good for 3rd place. Her best finish on the day would come in the long jump where she climbed all the way to the 2nd place spot with a mark of 15'5.5''.
After the grueling two day meet and 7 events later, Lanza would finish in 4th place with 3221 points while Oggenfuss would take 6th place with a total of 2606 points. The SSU track & field team continues to push on in their 2022 spring campaign as they will stay in the bay area and compete in the Cal State East Bay Invitational tomorrow April 9th at Chabot College.
