BERKELEY, CALIF. - On Saturday, April 6th, the Sonoma State track & field team competed in a pair of events in Berkeley hosted by Division I member Cal. Sophomore
Kathryn Rust got the weekend started on Friday in the Brutus Hamilton Multis where she recorded 3851 points in the Heptathlon. Rust has now competed in the event twice this season and would place 6th in a DI riddled field. Rust's best finish in the 7 events came in the high jump where she placed 2nd with a mark of just over five feet.
On Saturday, the rest of the SSU squad would compete in the Brutus Hamilton Invitational with Seawolves in 11 events on the day. Some of the team's best throwers would partake in the hammer throw with sophomore
Lily Garcia recording the best throw of the day with a mark of 147' 2''.
Kyra Togni was close behind with a mark of 146' 2'' good for 15th place.
The Seawolves had an impressive showing in the 3000 meter steeplechase with
Constance O'Neal and
Alex Boyle finishing in the top-5. O'Neal placed 2nd with a time of 11:35.69 which was just seconds off of the program record. Boyle placed 4th just after the 12-minute mark with a time of 12:00.67. The complete list of SSU finishers can be found below:
