RENO, NEV.- To start the new year Sonoma State Track & Field headed back to the University of Nevada to participate in the Silver and Blue Invitational. Halle McDaniels and Ariyah Ford got things started for their team with the duo taking first and third in the weight throw. McDaniels dominated the field throwing for 16.74 meters which was over a meter further than the second place finisher. Ford's throw of 15.20 meters was able to secure a third place finish giving Sonoma two of the top three finishers. The duo was also able to make an impact in the shot put as well with both climbing into the top 10.

Another pair of Seawolves had a strong showing in the high jump with Amber Walker and Jazmine Severo taking eighth and ninth place respectively. This pair have been neck and neck for Sonoma all year long and this time the pair would finish the meet in a draw with both clearing 1.65 meters for the day.

In the 600 meter race Jada Turner's time of 1:39.16 was good enough to claim fifth place in a tightly contested field. The top five athletes would all be within eight seconds of each other including a pair of NCAA Division I competitors from Saint Mary's College and University of Nevada. 

In the longer distances, Constance O'Neal's performance in the 3000 meters saw her race against 13 Division I opponents. Despite a competitive field O'Neal's final time of 10:35.84 was able to earn her a fifth place finish while beating out 10 of said Division I opponents.
