Seawolves Track & Field Puts Together Strong Outing at Moravian Indoor Meet

BETHLEHEM, PA.- Sonoma State Track & Field continued their indoor season this time heading across the country to participate in the Moravian Indoor Meet. As a team they put together an outstanding performance both on the track and out on the field.

The Seawolves got started with Kathryn Rust securing a second place finish in the 60 meter dash. Rust, only a freshman, out ran almost the entire field with the only athlete to finish ahead of her being a senior from Lehigh University. Staying with the shorter distances, the team was also able to submit a great performance in the 400 meters. Mia Cecilio and Jada Turner both finished a fraction of a second over 60 seconds with both runners taking second and third place respectively. Rounding out the shorter distances, freshman Katie Sheldon suited up for the 200 meter race and did well to the tune of a 28.31 second finish time seeing her finish just outside the top 10.

For those familiar with Constance O'Neal's dominant debut cross country season, she picked up right where she left off winning the meets 5000 meter race. O'Neal dominated the field with a final time of 17:40.12 that was 23 seconds clear of the next closest runner. When it comes to the long distances on the track, O'Neal is primed to be a force for the Seawolves.

Not to be outdone, Sonoma's throwers also put together a great outing. In the shot put, Ariyah Ford secured a first place finish thanks to throwing 13 meters, a whole two meters ahead of second place. Fellow Seawolves Kathryn Rust and Halle McDaniels also threw well taking fifth and seventh place respectively.  McDaniels and Ford were also outstanding in the weight throw with McDaniels earning a first place finish and Ford taking third.

Lastly, the high jump leaderboards were also filled with Sonoma State athletes with freshman Amber Walker leading the way. Walker cleared well over five feet as she earned a tie for first place. Jazmine Severo also jumped well as she took fourth place on the day.
