WALNUT, CALIF.- Kathryn Rust competed in the Heptathlon at the Ron Kamaka Invite and put together an outstanding performance for the Seawolves on her way to claiming second place on the day.
Rust got things started with a bang in the 100 meter hurdles where she won the event in dominating fashion. Rust would cross the finish line in just 15 seconds putting her well in front of the field. She continued to remain towards the top of the leaderboards in the 200 meters where she took second place finishing just a second behind the top placer.
Rust also had a strong performance in the shot put to the tune of throwing 10.47 meters, good for second place in the event while keeping her within striking distance of the first place athlete. Rust also was competitive in the jumping events including a 1.52 meter best during the high jump that was only a few meters away from the top mark.
Overall, it was a solid day on the track and the field for Rust whose second place finish sets her up nicely with the outdoor season officially underway.
