Peterson Leads Seawolves To Second Straight Sweep

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- For the sixth match this season, Keala Peterson had double-digit kills, hitting at a season-high .364 clip with 11 kills and three errors in 22 attacks, helping Sonoma State cruise to a 3-0 victory over visiting San Francisco State on Friday night at The Wolves' Den. The Seawolves improve to 5-3 in CCAA play and 8-4 overall as the Gators fall even at 4-4 in conference action (7-6 overall).

Despite nine ties and three lead changes throughout the match, Sonoma State seemed to cruise through each set with the help of several big runs that swung the momentum in the Seawolves favor.  SSU hit at a blazing .333 in the opening set on 15 kills and four errors in 33 attacks. They then followed it up with an impressive .444 hitting percentage in the second frame alone, smashing 14 kills with just two errors in 27 attempts.

The Seawolves cooled a bit in the third set, but held on to claim its second straight sweep. Ally Sather hammered in nine kills and Brooke Moore had eight, en route to a .429 hitting percentage. Lindsay Lytle controlled the offense, passing out 29 assists and Taylor Krenwinkel had another double-digit dig night, recording 14.

Lauren Walsh had 10 kills for the Gators, who hit .239 for the match with 36 kills and Sarah Kurfess led the defense with 13 digs.

Sonoma State will host No. 21 Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday night at 7 p.m. The Otters earned a five-set comeback victory on Friday night at Humboldt State, improving to 10-1 overall and 7-1 in the CCAA.
