Keala Peterson hit a season-high .448 with 16 kills in 29 attacks and
Ally Sather chipped in with 11 kills to lead Sonoma State to a three-set sweep (25-18, 25-22, 25-22) over visiting Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday evening at The Wolves' Den. The Seawolves, who were ranked fourth in the first official NCAA Division II West Region poll last week, have won two straight, improving to 12-7 overall and 9-6 in the CCAA.
The Seawolves hit no less than .300 all night, hitting an even .300 in the third a final set. Peterson's .448 clip is the best by a SSU player this season, as she committed just three errors. Sather got off to a hot start with four straight kills to start the match, forcing the Warriors to call a timeout. She went on to hit .267 with the aforementioned 11 kills in 30 attacks with three errors.
Taylor Krenwinkel had another double-digit dig night, scooping up and match-high 13 and
Brooke Moore made a huge presence at the net, rejecting four blocks. As a team, Sonoma State blocked eight attacks and Sather, Peterson and
Lindsay Lytle all had a solo block. The Seawolves held Cal State Stanislaus to 35 kills with 21 errors in 106 attacks (.132). Andrea Fett led the Warriors with 12 kills.
Hayley Ross and
Devin Shaver split the setting duties, passing out 16 assists each. Ross added three service aces as well.
Sonoma State will hit the road for its next five matches, starting with a trip to Southern California on Friday and Saturday to take on nationally-ranked Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona, respectively. The Seawolves will next return home on Nov. 11 to face Cal State Dominguez Hills, their second to last match of the regular season.
