Keala Peterson and
Ally Sather combined for 20 of Sonoma State's 41 kills and the team hit at a .283 clip, as the Seawolves handed Chico State its first three-set defeat of the season in California Collegiate Athletic Association women's volleyball action on Saturday night in Chico. Sonoma State won both matches this weekend, improving to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Wildcats dropped to 7-3 and 2-2 in the CCAA.
The Seawolves got off to a fast start, scoring eight of the match's first nine points to jump out to a 8-1 lead. But, SSU went on a 9-4 run to take the first set victory 25-19.
The second and third sets were much closer, however, the Wildcats never led at any point in the match. Chico State forced three ties, including twice early in the third and final set, but could never grab the lead from the Seawolves, who won the last two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-21.
