Seawolves Cruise To 3-0 Sweep Of Visiting 'Jacks

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- All-Americans Keala Peterson and Taylor Krenwinkel led the Sonoma State volleyball team to a efficient and balanced attack, as Sonoma State hit above .300 as a team for the second time this season, en route to a 25-15, 25-18, 25-18 sweep of visiting Humboldt State on Wednesday night at The Wolves' Den. The Seawolves rise to 7-4 overall and 4-3 in the CCAA. The Lumberjacks, meanwhile, remain winless at 0-11 and 0-7.

Peterson recorded her third double-double of the season, pounding ten kills in 28 attacks and just one error (.321 hitting percentage) while digging 11 attacks. Krenwinkel was again the defensive leader on the court on Wednesday, grabbing a match-high 25 digs. Ally Sather had nine kills for the Seawolves in 27 attacks and Kendahl Batiste had a huge all-around night, smashing seven kills and assisting on five of Sonoma State's 18 blocks, 16 of which were assisted. The ten team blocks were the second most by the Seawolves this season.

Sonoma State hit at a blistering .305 mark, its second best output of the season, hammering 45 kills with just nine errors in 118 attacks.

For Humboldt State, Oceana Matsubu had a team-high six kills, but with ten errors. The Lumberjacks hit just .036, the lowest percentage that the Seawolves have allowed by an opponent this season.

Sonoma State, in the midst of a five-match homestand, will host San Francisco State on Friday with the first serve set for 7 p.m. at The Wolves' Den. The Seawolves will then wrap up the homestand on Saturday and face No. 21 Cal State Monterey Bay at 7 p.m.
