FRESNO STATE RECAP:  In the their third game against a Division I school this season (two were exhibitions), the Seawolves fought hard, but were not able to overcome the Bulldogs, as they took the 89-64 loss.  It was third time the two teams had played each other, and with the win the Bulldogs took the 2-1 edge over the Seawolves in the all-time series.  Coincidentally, Sonoma State's 62-60 win over Fresno State in 1989 was the last time the Seawolves beat a NCAA Division I school.  Will Olsem led the scoring category for Sonoma State with 13 points, hitting 3-of-7 from beyond the arc.  Patrick Scott was close behind with 12 points and Steve Lackey followed with 10 points.  The Bulldogs' Tyler Johnson dropped 25 points to lead Fresno State to victory.

SCOUTING CHICO STATE:  A year ago, Sonoma State fans were in shambles after a buzzer-beating jumper in the CCAA Tournament Semifinal game that ended the Seawolves season and along with it, their CCAA title hopes.  The win sent the Wildcats to the CCAA Final, which they would end up losing to Humboldt State.  Fast-forward to the 2012-13 season and the Wildcats stand at 5-3, 2-2 in CCAA play.  Chico State comes into the weekend on a two-game winning streak and, in attempts to make it three, will face off against Sonoma State for the 84th time in a series that dates back to 1967.  Adding to the drama, the all-time series is tied at 42-42.  Sonoma State won both regular season meetings last year, but Chico State clawed back to win in the CCAA Tournament.  In the last 10 meetings, Sonoma State has a 6-4 edge, and since 2001, they lead 19-5.  The Wildcats are led by junior forward Amir Carraway, who is averaging 9.0 points per game and is shooting slightly under 50 percent from the floor.  Chico State as a team is averaging 68 points per game, while allowing 55 ppg to their opponents.

SCOUTING CAL STATE STANISLAUS:  The Warriors start the 2013 calendar year with a 4-4, 1-3 CCAA record.  They'll be looking to bring their conference record back to .500 against SF State and Sonoma this weekend.  Cal State Stanislaus is coming off a bad loss to Chico State (86-48), but before that they had reeled off three wins in a row.  The Warriors are led by senior forward Ray Mitchell, who is averaging 10.9 points per game.  Cal State Stanislaus is averaging 74 points per game as a team through their first eight games.  Sonoma State has the upper hand in the all-time series, leading 42-36, including seven of the last 10 meetings.

1,000 POINT CLUB COUNTDOWN:  Four-year players Will Olsem and Patrick Scott are nearing the ellusive 1,000-Point Club.  Olsem currently has 925 points and needs just 75 more points to join the club, while Scott has dropped in 847 total points, needing 153 more points to hit the milestone.  Olsem and Scott would be the 12th and 13th players to earn the distinction in Sonoma State history.  Steven Pratt was the last Seawolf inducted into the club, ending his career with 1,164 points.

CCAA LEADERBOARD:  Sonoma State's offensive powers have not gone unnoticed so far this season. In addition to his two CCAA Player of Week awards, Patrick Scott is second in the CCAA in points per game, averaging 17.8 ppg.  Justin Herold is shooting 65 percent from the floor, also good for second in the CCAA, while Scott sits at fourth place, shooting 60 percent from the field.  Hitting 55.6 percent of his three-point shots, Jason Walter is second in the CCAA in three-point shot percentage. Patrick Scott shows up again in that same category, draining 53.7 percent of his three-point shots.  Lastly, as a team, Sonoma State is leading the CCAA in team shooting percentage, draining nearly half of the shots they take (49.6).

SEAWOLVES' NOTES:  Leading scorers for the Seawolves include Patrick Scott (17.8), Justin Herold (10.8), and Will Olsem (10.1).
