The win gives the Seawolves their third straight season of 10 or more wins in conference play (10-7) while improving to 13-8 overall.  The Broncos fell to 10-13, 8-10 CCAA.

Ranked fifth in this week's NCAA Division II West Region poll, the Seawolves fought through 27 tie scores and 10 lead changes, most of which came in the third set. However, Sonoma State cruised to the 25-22, 25-20, 25-20 win after falling at No. 8 Cal State San Bernardino a night before.

In the opening set, SSU got off to a relatively slow start, falling behind 10-3 before rallying to knot the score up at 16-16. Sather eventually closed out the set with back-to-back kills to grab the early 1-0 match lead. Neither team led by more than two points in the second frame until the Broncos claimed a four point lead at 15-11. The Seawolves bounced back to tie it up at 15. It again went back and forth until a kill by Peterson gave Sonoma State the 19-18 lead. The Seawolves never looked back, scoring six of the set's next eight points to hold a comfortable 2-0 match lead.

The third set was nearly identical to the second, as both teams found themselves tied at 18, but that's when Sonoma State took over, scoring seven of the set's next nine points to claim the match win.

Lindsay Lytle recorded a double-double in the victory, passing out 27 assists and defending 14 attacks, the only Seawolf with double-digit digs. Sonoma State had another big day at the net, blocking nine Cal Poly Pomona attacks. Brooke Moore rejected four attacks while Devynne Johnson, Sather and Kendahl Batiste had three assisted stops.

For Cal Poly Pomona, Diana Lake led the team with nine kills and Sinead Palmer added eight. Kelly Bonja led the backline with 13 digs.

Sonoma State will have a busy road schedule this upcoming week, traveling to Humboldt State on Wednesday, then taking on Bay Area rivals in Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday and San Francisco State on Saturday. All three matches will begin at 7 p.m. The Seawolves will then return home in two weekends to face Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills for the final matches of the 2010 regular season.
